I made my own snare drum recently.

It sounds really good and I might be talked into

making more if there is any interest.

If you would like a quote on a drum just give

the dimensions and the type of wood you would

like and I'll get back with you.

I can do just an un-finished shell or a finished drum.

Here is a link to my build thread on the

Drummerworld website.

This is what I started with.

After Cutting all the pieces I check for fit.

Then I glue and clamp it for at least 24 hours.

After that I took it to my friend who turned it on

 a lathe for me.

Then much sanding went into this thing. From

100 grit to 800 grit with many stops in between.

Fnishing it off with 0000 steel wool.

This is after 5 coats of Waterlox finish.

Now I lay out the hardware using my trusty

layout mat.

Here is my "Trick" throw off how it comes

from the factory.

Here it is after I gave it a good polish.

Here is the finished drum.

I realize that I didn't take any pics of the lugs

before they were installed. That is because

when they showed up I was too excited and put

them on immediately.
